Speaker

The desire to share his experience as a top-level professional leads Maestro Andrei Chevtchouk to give regular lectures in France and abroad.

His infectious warmth and artistic enthusiasm, combined with his in-depth knowledge of the works and their historical and cultural context, enable him to address both the general public and connoisseurs, developing themes as varied as ‘Shostakovich and Stalin’, ‘Mozart and Russian musical culture’, ‘Behind the scenes of French operetta’, ‘The whirlwind of French romances’, ‘Musical salons in France and Russia’, ‘Spanish motifs in French culture: from the Habanera to the Bolero’, ‘Oriental colours in French culture’, ‘Myths and magic in the operettas of Jacques Offenbach’...

Seeking to make the great works of the repertoire accessible, the Maestro gives his lectures in a variety of settings: conservatories, festivals, theatres, specialised musicological institutions (Mozarteum in Lyon and Geneva), museums, libraries, embassies...

Andrei Chevtchouk developed his teaching skills through many years of experience, first at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory (assistant professor of choral conducting), then at the University of Grenoble (lecturer), and at the conservatories of Grenoble (dance accompanist), Beauvais (choral singing teacher) and Amiens (orchestra teacher).

In recent years, his expertise has been called upon to participate in competition juries and masterclasses: the international competition ‘The Singing World’ in Saint Petersburg, the international festival “Istoki” in Brussels and Moscow, the international festival-competition ‘Le Monde du Petit Prince’ in Lyon, and the Russian choral assembly at the Russian Orthodox Spiritual and Cultural Centre in Paris.
